I thoroughly enjoyed the vacation scheme. Everyone at the firm that I made contact with made me feel very welcome at all times. The scheme provided a great balance of legal insight, firm insight, networking opportunities and social events. The direct assessments on the scheme were also handled very well, and not made to be unnecessarily stressful.
I had a really lovely time on the vacation scheme. The activities were a good balance of work, insight into the firm and social activities, and I was always busy doing something or the other. My supervisors had different styles, but both were extremely friendly and helpful. I've made good friends from the scheme who I sincerely hope I'll be working with in the future; whether at the same firm or across the table. Overall extremely enjoyable!
The vacation scheme is a nice experience. It is a good balance of social events, where you can interact with and meet people at the firm, and spending time doing work at the seats. Since the scheme is structured to allow you to sit with two different departments, it improves your exposure to distinct practice areas.
This vacation scheme at Herbert Smith Freehills was a very enjoyable insight into the legal profession and I very much enjoyed my time spent with the firm. It proved to be a well-structured and organised scheme, providing plenty of engaging work. We had the opportunity to get to know other interns, associates and partners through organised networking and social events.

The vac scheme was an accessible and friendly insight into the legal profession, and more specifically a legal career within London. It was my first scheme and it was well structured, well thought out and the work was interesting. We also had some social events to get to know other vac scheme students, current trainees and future trainees as well as more senior staff such as associates and partners etc.
I really enjoyed the my vacation scheme with HSF. My supervisors and trainee buddies were very lovely, personable and approachable. They were also very detailed, helpful and insightful in the feedback that they gave me. There were also several fun social events that were organised and lined up for us.
The insight was a wonderful and superb experience. I felt very welcomed by everyone at the firm, from day one to the last day. Although it was only a short two weeks, I got to meet many trainees, associates and partners. Anyone who is interested in commercial law should definitely join the firm.
All supervisors strived to ensure that the work given was important and related to active cases. Very enjoyable socials in the evenings to network and get to know fellow vac-schemers better. Nice touch to get trainees and associates who attended your university to get in contact and ask to meet up for a coffee.
I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation scheme and overall it was a very positive experience which cemented my desire to pursue a career in law. Even though the scheme was hard work, and you definitely get challenging tasks and have full days, I feel like this served to give a real taste of the life of a lawyer and therefore made the vacation scheme interesting and authentic.
The insight was a great way to learn more about the firm and to experience what it would be like to work with Herbert Smith Freehills full time. There were also plenty of opportunities to be involved with social activities run by the firm which helped to make the scheme informative and fun.
The Vacation Scheme was very enjoyable for a number of reasons. Firstly, I found that my supervisor's and trainee buddies were very supportive and encouraged me to get stuck into a lot of matters. I also appreciated that alumni from my university, that I hadn't met before, reached out to me asking if I'd want to meet them for coffee etc. Graduate Recruitment had also gone to a lot of effort to organise fun social events for us that weren't too formal so that we could really get to know the other vacation schemers and trainees.
The two weeks I had at HSF were incredibly enjoyable overall. We were given loads of really interesting presentations about all the different areas of the firm and everyone made a massive effort to make us feel welcome. The work I was given was really interesting and HR put on great social events in the evenings.
