I had an absolutely fantastic time on the insight scheme, learning about what really lies at the heart of Herbert Smith Freehills and its values as a firm. The opportunity to meet people from all across the firm, in the various departments and in their various stages of the career, provided a fantastic insight.
I really enjoyed the insight scheme because it gave me a greater understanding of corporate law and the thrilling nature of the work. I especially enjoyed the departmental careers fair, as prior to this I really had no idea about the sort of work each department did. One of the best parts of the insight scheme were the ADR and negotiation workshops as it enabled me to understand the real work that lawyers do in a corporate law firm.
I really enjoyed this insight because it allowed me to get a good understanding of the practice area of the firm, the life of a trainee at the firm, as well as the firm's culture. I also found the shadowing opportunity unique in that it truly allowed us to understand what it is a trainee does and allowed us to ask trainee's questions in an informal setting.
All the people who partook in the scheme alongside me were very friendly and kind, along with all the trainees/associates/partners that I spoke to. The insight scheme was very informative and useful, I got a better insight of what it would actually be like to be a trainee in a commercial law firm.
For the first Law Firm I’ve attended, they’ve set the bar really high. In the space of only 2 days, I learned so much about the ethos of the firm and what they have to offer. All the trainees, associates and partners that I met were welcoming and made it very clear that HSF is a wonderful firm to work for. I will definitely be applying for a vacation scheme here!
It was very enjoyable - everybody was very friendly which definitely helped! Whilst there was definitely a packed schedule and a lot of information to absorb, the trainees, associates and partners alike were easygoing and welcoming, and there were plenty of opportunities to learn more about them and their interests at the end of the first day.
Very interesting and action-packed schedule over the entire scheme, with a few particularly enjoyable role-playing scenarios. Had the chance to speak to loads of trainees, associates and partners alike, and everyone was very candid and helpful in their words of wisdom. A good mixture of activities from presentations, to shadowing, to networking and activities.
The First Year Insight Scheme was incredibly enjoyable. The schedule was packed full of a variety of activities, such as group negotiation exercises and work shadowing. It was invaluable in gaining an insight into the firm and the type of work it does. All the Trainees/associates were also very friendly and willing to take time out of their day to talk to us.
It was an amazing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got to meet many first year students and got a feel about the culture about the firm. The career fair was also a really good opportunity to find out about many departments within the firm. However, one thing that I found slightly repetitive was the negotiation/mediation workshop.
The first year insight scheme was extremely engaging. It is perfect for those who enjoy interactive discussion and debate. For example, the negotiation and mediation exercises encouraged us to apply our skills and collaborate with our teammates. This is a fantastic way to demonstrate the daily tasks of associates at HSF.
The event was very enjoyable - especially the time spent shadowing a trainee. He was very insightful and friendly and no question was too onerous. The social event and the skills workshops were highly enjoyable and bought some fun to the event. Overall, it was a very useful exercise for informing my career decisions.
I very much enjoyed my time with HSF. The firm representatives are super friendly, the work being done by the firm is very exciting and I got a much deeper understanding of the industry. Overall, this is an unforgettable and super well-organised insight scheme and gave us a deeper understanding of the firm.
I enjoyed the insight a lot because it was useful in helping me gauge whether or not Herbert Smith Freehills would be a law firm that I would be interested in applying to. The workshops and the work shadowing were the most enjoyable elements of the insight as they gave you the most hands on approach.
