I found SAP's Software Development placement to be a really enjoyable experience. I really enjoyed the chance of meeting experienced team member's that were willing to help me. I was on placement for 13 months and i really enjoyed myself for the first 8 months with having a mentor. However due to consolidation redundancies happened and me and the other mentor lost all members of the team for the last 5 months. This was negative however i believe working on my own for 5 months has really pushed me to become a better programmer.
It has been one of the busiest years so far, but also one of the best. Going to work every day instead of going to university was a big change, however, I had one of the best years in my life. All the new skills that I learnt and all the knowledge is incredible, it has changed me as a person, not just professionally but also personally. I have gained more confidence, met great people and expanded my professional network.
My day to day work was repetitive at times, with monotonous tasks forming a large part of my role. This generally included tasks such as report generation and data analysis- something I knew would be a part of my role, albeit not to the same extent. This said, I greatly enjoyed some of the additional tasks and projects that I decided to get involved in- this included the likes of customer engagement and early talent recruitment which helped to give my work some variety. I wasn't sure if I would have enjoyed my role that much without these projects being available- the fact we were able to do these was a credit to SAP.
I believe my placement at SAP has helped me to essentially develop into a different person. I am a lot more confident in my own abilities, in terms of approaching new challenges, whereas beforehand I would get intimidated. Overall, the atmosphere at SAP is an enjoyable one to work within. There is a lot of autonomy for employees to do what they want, as long as the work gets done.
I have had an amazing experience during my time at SAP on placement, I have had the opportunity to get involved in a large variation of different activities and tasks and have been fortunate enough to work with so many different personalities and alternative workstyles. I feel I have benefited greatly from this experience and hope I get to work with people I have worked with this year again in the future!!!
I have really enjoyed my time at SAP. I've had opportunities to get involved with a variety of different tasks, projects and areas of the business. The people I have worked with have been great and I really enjoyed the office environment (which I think makes a big difference). I have gained a much better understanding of how a large corporate business works and more of an insight into grad jobs I will apply for - both key things that I wanted to get out of this year!
I've really enjoyed my time at SAP. Interacting with different people across many different departments has allowed me to really develop my communication skills. The intern community are great and i have enjoyed working within and for the specific teams in my department.
A very enjoyable experience, the team were great and very welcoming. From day one I was made to feel like a member of the team as opposed to "the intern". The atmosphere in the office was great, the leadership team were great, the work was engaging and we were given a lot of responsibility.
I really enjoyed my placement as it has allowed me to develop my skills in a professional environment. At times, it has been stressful, but that is what I expected and I am proud to have completed it. SAP has been particularly enjoyable, as it has allowed me to work in an industry I had not previously considered.
The placement has been a great insight into the tech industry, the movements that are happening and how a company such as SAP operates to ensure it retains its position as a market leader. SAP is a huge company so being able to see how a large number of different departments operate has provided me a much clearer picture as to where I'd like to go in the future.
