I entirely enjoyed my placement with SAP. The technology industry is a very inspiring sector to work in and SAP are market leaders in enterprise software. Being in such an innovative company allowed me to discover exciting new interests for myself. Being a valued part of the driving force which was bringing these innovations to fruition has proved to be a motivating driver in my career.
My placement at SAP has highly exceeded all my expectations! There has not been a dull moment to date and I have been involved in a multitude of engaging, valuable projects. These have ranged from projects within the 'Green Team' and 'Cultures' to working on webinars and events directly with our partners. More importantly, knowing that I am having a direct effect on the business and its outcomes have made the placement even more enjoyable and really pushed me to work at my optimum level.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at SAP. Since starting in July 2019, I have been presented with an abundance of opportunities, whether that be within my role, the wider SAP business or for personal development. I have found myself a valued member of my team and contribute as a full-time employee would, whilst also having a strong support network around me.
I am currently 9 months into my internship and I can honestly say it has been an incredible experience! As soon as I started I was given first-hand training for my role from the current intern, so you have an entire month to learn on-the-job with them and ask any questions you have. My team have been so supportive whenever I have needed help, and have also pushed me to do things I would never normally do, such as presenting. I have shadowed my team on deals and customer calls, and even had the chance to go to Prague for 3 days to meet my extended team with the aim of improving internal processes. From start to present I have felt like a valued member of my team, not just the 'intern'.
Overall I have had a great experience in these past months at SAP. The placement programme team is one of the best; they have made sure every intern is happy and enjoying their time at SAP. From the start of the placement, we had two weeks onboarding, which a lot of companies don't offer. The onboarding helped me get up-to-speed, meet the other interns, feel more comfortable and get used to the work routine before I fully started my role. Throughout the year, you also get to apply for different opportunities provided by the placement programme which allows you to experience different areas of the business.
Whilst exceeding my expectations of the type of work i'll be doing in my job role, I have felt as though the type of work I have been involved in has developed my understanding of not only my specific sales role, but also the dynamic technology industry and how SAP has an impact on organisations worldwide. I feel as though the work I have completed will naturally supplement any graduate scheme applications I intend to apply for in the future
I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement because it allowed me to challenge myself through engaging work and collaboration with other employees at SAP. Additionally, this placement has offered me hands on experience with a wide variety of tasks which have helped me to develop multiple skills, in turn improving my employability.
As part of the commercial team, I was given huge amount of responsibility from day one, and thrown straight in the deep end. Working in a fast paced and close knit team, I was exposed to a range of different processes and able to develop a wide scope of skills which will benefit me as my career moves forward. Communicating with people all over the world - specifically Czech Republic, India, Ireland and the odd occasion other countries around Europe, it enabled me to improve my understanding of different cultures and how they operate-further improved by my trip to Prague.
The placement year at SAP exceeded my expectations. The insights that one can gain for working for a software company of their size is incredible and there are many opportunities available. I came back to university full of great expertise and experience. Most benefits are also available to placement students.
The opportunities, support and colleagues within SAP made my placement extremely enjoyable. Both in terms of the network I developed and the work I undertook, the placement was thoroughly enjoyable and will be something that will aid my development for my entire career.
The year I spent with SAP was the most valuable and insightful year of my life. The extent of the exposure, knowledge and experience you gain within SAP is second to none. Especially being involved in Industry Value Advisory, I was exposed to multiple industries and markets.
It was an incredibly insightful placement year where I gained valuable experience both inside and out of my job role. I gained exposure to other parts of the business thanks to the support of my manager and managed to create a very useful network which will benefit me well in the future.
I really enjoyed my time as an SAP Intern. My role developed throughout the year, allowing me to take on bigger responsibilities and really start to feel like I was making a difference. There are aspects that I found difficult such as adjusting to the 9-5 life and the lack of social life, but the overall placement was fantastic.
I enjoyed many things about my placement- for example I got to work with a supportive team, I got a lot of responsibility in my role and I got the chance to really get involved within my department. The only reason this is not a 10 is because I did feel stressed sometimes with the amount of responsibility that came with the role.
Never stopped to be surprised throughout. An incredible life-changing experience in an organisation that truly values its employees. I felt that there is no limit at SAP, whereby “Bring everything you are, become everything you want” definitely happens! There has been no a single person in the whole business, who did not like to work with. Open doors for everybody and outstanding support across all functions.
The last 13 months have not only flown by but i've managed to gain friends for life as well as extending my professional network internally but also externally. Being able to gain such valuable experience at such a young age will certainly impact my way of life when I return for my final year at university.
