Placement (10 Months+)

Please give an overview of your role and what it involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consisted of supporting the UKI Finance team to reconcile accounts, provide insightful data analysis and to accurately forecast both revenue and costs for the Market Unit. I also partnered with many other areas within the business to provide financial analysis and guidance.

What was the interview process like?

The interview process was great. So early in the process I was reached out to by the current SAP intern at the time. This personal approach was extremely encouraging, and it was the first hint of how SAP treat its employees, customers, and stakeholders.

How much responsibility do you have?

At SAP interns are truly treated and respected like full time employees. There is so much opportunity to take on further responsibilities both within and outside of your specific role.

How much support and guidance have you received throughout your experience?

The support throughout each lockdown to the guidance on how to make the most of our placement year SAP and the placement team delivered over and above what I could have ever expected.

To what extent have you enjoyed your experience?

All in all, my 13-month placement at SAP was highly rewarding in so many ways. From the skills developed to the relationships built, I would recommend SAP to any students in a heartbeat.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Over the 13 months I have developed so many skills. From data analysis, excel skills, presentation skills, stakeholder management, teamwork, and leadership skills amongst others.

How has this experience met your expectations?

To say the year has exceeded my expectations would be a huge understatement. The guidance, support and exciting opportunities have made this year one I will look back on so gratefully.

What advice would you give to students applying for your role?

Be confident, be inquisitive and most importantly don’t be afraid to be yourself!
