Lucy Buckley

Marketing Assistant (Pharmaceuticals)

Where did you find out about this opportunity?

I saw the role advertised on rate my placement and applied via the online application.

“I couldn’t ask for a better team – I get on very well with everyone and there is no segregation between managers and assistants”

What aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?

I particularly enjoy managing new product launches with creative agencies to coordinate and design all promotional materials. I have been lucky enough to be given responsibility for leading on numerous projects. For example, I work in Haematology and was asked to lead on coordinating all activities for Blood Cancer Awareness month and in the coming year I will be leading on the re-branding of one of our major products.

What have you learnt so far to further your development?

I have loved the opportunity to further my knowledge and learn more around the products we sell. Whether that be product specific training or attending meetings on potential upcoming projects. I have also learnt how vital prioritisation and time management is to any marketing role in the pharmaceutical business.

What are the people like that you work with?

I couldn’t ask for a better team – I get on very well with everyone and there is no segregation between managers and assistants. In my short time here so far, I already feel like a valued member of the team.

What would be your top tip to prospective candidates applying for a similar role?

Be proactive! Demonstrate your enthusiasm for marketing. You don’t have to come from a scientific background to succeed in this role.
