Placement (10 Months+)

What made you apply to the Waitrose placement scheme?

I applied to Waitrose for many reasons, but one of the most important was their reputation as an honourable employer. I wanted to be part of the unique Waitrose placement scheme and work for a company who valued everyone who works for them. In short, I wanted to be proud of the company I work for. I knew that I would be if I became a Waitrose Partner, because of the outstanding way Waitrose treats its customers, Partners and suppliers.

How has this placement affected your career prospects?

The placement has definitely improved my career prospects. My year at Waitrose has given me up to date retail knowledge; work experience at management level to add to my CV and much, much more self-awareness, which is crucial to my future development. My placement will also aid me greatly when completing applications for graduate schemes because filling up the word count for questions about teamwork or responsibility will be easy!

What is the most valuable lesson you learnt on your placement?

There are many, many lessons that I will take with me throughout my career. However, the most valuable would be to always make the most of every opportunity and always be open to feedback to improve your self-awareness. This year has exposed me to many different people and dynamic environments but I take each challenge as a chance to develop myself further and learn about my strengths and development areas.
