Placement (10 Months+)

What made you apply to PSA Peugeot Citroën?

The first thing that attracted me to apply for a position is the brand awareness of both marques. The reviews on RateMyPlacement.co.uk were very positive and a lot higher than any of the other car manufacturers I saw. I didn’t actually have to apply for PSA Peugeot Citroën, as the HR team conducted Fast Track interviews on my university’s campus. I was then invited to complete online aptitude tests and attend an assessment centre.

How much responsibility were you given during your placement / internship?

I was thrown into the deep end from day one. This was very daunting, though with support and willingness to learn I landed on my feet. You get up to speed very quickly and independently learn on the job. I’ve received projects to manage and although your managers are there to give you direction and support, the ownership of the project is yours. An example is a project where I rolled out over 100 servers to all dealerships in the UK.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

There can be ups and downs that you get in any job, but my placement has been very enjoyable! There may be times when you stay late and come in early but these are extra opportunities to gain more valuable experience. These are usually the times when you learn the most. If you have a quiet spell don’t be afraid to let your manager know and ask for more work!

How did PSA Peugeot Citroën prepare you for your placement / internship?

I couldn’t ask for anything more! I felt prepared weeks before my placement. Once the offer is received a fun IP day is arranged where you get to meet everyone. This was great because we were able to meet before we officially started. Five of us agreed to move into a house less than 10 minutes away from the office. The first week is an induction where you complete tasks and get to know each other and the company better.

How has this placement / internship affected your career prospects?

I have gained invaluable experience which will help in my future career and final year. I have been involved in projects which have allowed me to experience different departments and offices worldwide. I have learnt to adapt to new situations and improve my time management skills. Working for PSA Peugeot Citroën has given me a greater understanding of how an international business is run and what is expected. There are graduate opportunities available, so hopefully I will be invited back.
