Placement (10 Months+)

Why were you interested in a graduate position at a Cushman & Wakefield

One of the main reasons I was interested in a graduate position at C&W was the highly regarded graduate training scheme. At C&Wamp; you have three 10-month rotations, which means you obtain a wide range of experience but also spend long enough in each department to gain a full understanding of the work involved and be given a high level of responsibility. The open and personable culture of the firm was really appealing to me.

What was the recruitment process like to get your position?

The recruitment process had a number of stages to it, including an online application form, online numerical test, an interview, assessment day, 4 weeks work experience and a final interview. The work experience was a very valuable part of the recruitment process as it allowed us to gain a full insight into what it is like to work at C&W, both in the office and socially. The recruitment process was very well organised at all times throughout the process and we were always kept updated by HR.

What do you think graduates need to succeed at C&W?

Graduates need to be hard working and determined and have a real passion for property. They also need to be personable, sociable and out going. Property is a very people orientated profession, and it is vital that you can communicate and work well with a diverse range of people.

What did you learn on your internship?

My placement enabled me to gain a valuable insight into what it is like to work at C&W, both in the office and socially. During my work experience the team involved me in all aspects of their work including client meetings, team meetings, site visits and report writing. The work experience confirmed my desire to be a chartered surveyor and work at C&W.

How did the internship affect your prospects?

The internship kick started my career as it led to a place on the graduate programme. The internship was my chance to show C&W my abilities as well an opportunity for me to make an informed decision of where I wanted to start my career. The internship was a fantastic place to establish relationships, all of which have helped me in my career to date.
