Placement (10 Months+)

What was the application process like?

The application process had various levels – it started with a quick online application and the first interview was with a recruiter. From there, I had another interview with a branch manager and it ended in an assessment centre. The whole application process really gets you involved with what the job will be like and the different things you will be doing. As much as Enterprise is trying to see if you’re right for the job, it’s also great for you to see if Enterprise is right for you.

Any top tips for students in a placement?

Make the most of it – it’s amazing how quickly a year can go. The more you get out from this year in industry will benefit you so much more after you finish final year. Definitely get as much money saved as well to be ready for university in September!

What did you do on a daily basis?

Every day is completely different at Enterprise – this job definitely keeps you on your toes! There’s so much to do and always so many projects you can be getting involved with - there honestly isn’t a single day you spend clock watching. The day flies by. My responsibilities are so varied. I manage my customers and accounts, and I am out of the office on sales calls to bring in more business for our branch.

Highlights of the job?

Hitting the elite club 4 months in a row was definitely a highlight – being treated to days out with management and getting to socialise with the other employees in the area is always brilliant! The people that I’ve met at Enterprise over this year couldn’t have been better people with which to work.

What was your greatest challenge?

Coming out from two years of being a student and only having 10 hours of school work a week to then working a full week Monday to Friday was probably the biggest adjustment. Such a big change, but you get used to it very quickly!

What did you learn on your placement?

What haven’t I learnt on placement? Enterprise teaches you everything you could possibly imagine about running a business that you’ll need. You run your branch as if you’re running your own business – and the responsibility and satisfaction of running your own business comes along with it as well.

How has this placement

I already now have a career sorted with Enterprise after university – could it be any better? Enterprise values their interns in a big way! The best news is that after 12 months as an intern, I’ve completed the management training programme so I am returning at a higher level when I graduate.
