Overall Rated 9.8
★★★★★★★★★★
The Role
- Role Description
Assist in engaging with Jagex's online gaming community and providing support and assistance by helping to manage moderators, answer queries, investigate complaints, solve issues, and review offence appeals.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
Jagex and its managers have helped me every step of the way to develop and grow as an individual on my placement year and in my career. There are endless opportunities to work in your area of interest and they are a key stepping stone to helping any placement develop themselves.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
The environment at Jagex was warm and welcoming. They treat others as they would treat themselves and from day 1 all the placements seemed to feel part of the Jagex family.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
Everyday my managers were available to me to help guide, support and develop me to go wherever I wanted to in the business. This included seminars, one to one support among many other key guidance tools.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Work has always been available to me with the opportunity to challenge processes and take on bigger tasks always being encouraged and supported by my managers.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
We have always been encouraged to push the boundaries and challenge anything we didn't believe was the right way to go about things. My personal development has been excellent, so much so that I became a shift leader in the company before my placement end so I was managing/leading others in my team to help them grow too.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
Key work skills have established since I have been here, from project management & time management to key communication skills. Seminars are run on an almost weekly basis to help teach placements important management skills such as 'coaching and feedback' and 'public speaking' sessions.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Very upbeat. Work hard/Play hard mentality with friendly inter-office competition which helped driver performance.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
From day 1 we had a very specific 'Placement Development Timeline' that helped map out seminars for personal development. We were then encouraged to get involved on a 'Skills Development Program' to extend our management knowledge.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
Many opportunities to take with regards to personal development. From the initial 'Placement development timeline' to a 'Skills development program' and an additional 'SkillUp' program which ran 2 sessions per quarter in an area of your choice!
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Flexi Time
- Subsidised/Company Gym
- Financial Bonus
- Company Parties/Events
- Staff Sales/Staff Shop
- Healthcare/Dental
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
Jagex have an 'Ambassador' program which allows the placements that excel 'above and beyond' the opportunity to take a permanent position up with them after you have graduated.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
A mixture of outgoing placements and placements that prefer to stay in. With such a large amount of placements being taken on board there is always some groups that you will find that want to do whatever you want to do too.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Cambridge area isn't the cheapest but the bonus structure within the company means you always have money to go out and have a good time!
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Always a good night out, with Cambridge having 2 unis there are plenty of student night out!
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
The opportunity to take a part in the Jagex football team/cricket team were available as well as staff forums to get to know like-minded people and get involved in whatever you want to do.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
The company is generally full of younger adults so there are plenty of people around your age, and being a games company people naturally had a common interest in the company which is always a good ice-breaker!
