    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very much, the work was interesting and engaging.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues gave me work from the outset that came directly from clients. I was part of a team that was all pulling together to deliver research for clients. Seeing a piece of research that you have conducted being useful to Savills and the work they do give you a great sense of achievement.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Yes I was supported throughout my time on the scheme. Members of my team from all levels of seniority were available and willing to give me help and guidance when it was required. The teams are extremely busy so for them to dedicate significant portions of their time to you is excellent.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Reasonably busy. I was mostly working on market reports or attending meetings. There were quiet times where occasionally there was less to do but that is to be expected. The summer can be quiet for the whole industry.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given limited responsibility. When working on projects directly for important clients there need to be check and balances in place to ensure that nothing sub standard or incorrect is included. My work was always reviewed by someone more senior before being included.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a non cognate student progressing onto a masters course everything was useful as I haven't come across any technical property information in my pervious studies. Learning practical aspects to property before embarking on an academic course will be extremely useful and provides an excellent basis from which to progress,.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a dynamic and professional atmosphere that encouraged work of top quality. This however did not prevent the office from being a good environment within which to work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well, there were lots of talks, tours and meetings set up by the HR department which added an excellent structure to the scheme and allowed further learning and personal development.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invested in me through the talks that were set up, the time I had with staff of all seniority levels.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing off the back of this scheme I will certainly be applying to the firm when applications open.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes - amongst the other placement students. This was facilitated by an early social event and a sports match. This set the ball rolling and we continued independently to spend a lot of time together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive - food and drink is always going to be a bit of a shock. If you are sensible it is possible to limit this. Being paid for the internship helps cover these costs.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good - you are in the heart of London so there will always be fun to be had if you look for it.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not really - I know there are within the firm once you become a permanent employee but not so much when only there for a month.

    4/5
