The job had its quiet periods, as with any job. However, I enjoyed these periods as I was able to keep myself working and reflect on the work I had done previously and the work I was yet to do.

I was in charge of several of teh intranet site, two internal learning forums, hands-on help with several analyst events and also assissted my manager with different marketing campaigns throughout the year.

The skills I have learnt this year will benefit me grately during my final year of study. On a basic level I am more thorough in checking my work, my organisation skills have increased and I am better at managing my time. On a business level I am able to see how marketing theories are put into practice by large multi national organisations. I have been able to work with people across the world and I have made some excellent contacts for my future career.

I was based in HPs UK HQ so the office was lively with a good mix of people. There were 50 interns based in the office so the atmosphere was always fun and young.

The placement scheme at HP has been running for over 20 years so they really understand what interns want to get out of their placements. I would encourage anyone to apply for HP if they have the opportunity.

HP put a great deal of effort and time into nurturing their interns and we are encouraged to throw oursleves in at the deep-end.

I am one of the few placement studenst at HP to be fortunate enough to be offered a fast track pass to the graduate scheme in 2009. This means I will not need to particpate in the preliminary interviews and I can go straight to the assessment centre day.

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

Excellent!!! There were 50 of us in total and we had many nights out during the year, charity pub crawls and excursions and a ball at the end of the yearorganised by the intern committee. I have made some great friends here and I will be sad to leave them.

The cost of living was average considering we are so close to London.

The area I lived in had an ok nightlife but we were close to London so we made use of this.
