Job Title: Work Experience
Overall Rated 9.5
★★★★★★★★★★
The Role
- Role Description
Attending meetings and research
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
My time at the firm was very interesting and gave good insight.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
Colleagues made a great deal of effort to ensure my time was spent on valuable activities.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
Every activity came with a full explanation and discussion about its relevance.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Despite the fact that my colleagues were clearly busy people, I was given a huge amount of attention when I was directly involved in their activities. At other times I was working on my own project.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
The experience was relatively short so this necessarily limited the extent to which I was able to take on activities. This said, when I was involved in activities I felt that my opinion mattered.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I learned even more than I had expected to.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Hardworking but mellow. The workspaces reflect the seriousness of the work but people looked relaxed in the social spaces, eg the canteen.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Masses of prep goes into the vacation scheme at this firm.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
I came away with the feeling that the firm really wanted me to be have a worthwhile experience. I learned a lot about the role.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Subsidised Canteen
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
The experience was arranged purely as an information exercise but if I were thinking of applying to a firm at this time then RPC would be a real contender.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
My visit was too brief to gain much of an insight but I was looked after well and friendly colleagues took me for lunch
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
There's a range of affordable restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity and the staff have a great subsidised cafe directly overlooking St Katharine Docks.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Plenty of options nearby and easy access to other parts of the City. The amazing old Wilton's Music Hall is close - a total treat.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
My visit was too short to allow this but I was aware of a number of activities organised for those visiting for the summer vac scheme.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
I left my work experience visit feeling very positive. The people at RPC are genuinely lovely and I felt the recruiters were very committed to their jobs.
