    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Enjoyable. There was a good mix of networking events, workshops and skills sessions. It was nice to have had the insight at the TW office because it meant that there was a good mix of people we could speak to. Since it was only 1 day, the TW team did well to ensure that the events were light and not information heavy, This resulted in the day being much more enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The entire program revolved around helping you understand what the role of an intern is at TW and how TW helps you to achieve your objectives. The events were varied and diverse with emphasis placed on interaction with employees. We were also given a choice of which workshops we wanted to participate in. This meant that we could really personalize the insight day experience for us individually.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The graduate recruitment team were very helpful and ensured that the entire purpose of the program was to help you make a decision about whether TW is the place for you. There were presentations from individuals from all the different departments. They held business game activities to help us get a real feel for the type of work they do on a day to day basis and ended with an application skills workshop which helped us with general application to TW and beyond.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As it was only a 1 day event, there was not much time for the development of extensive skills which can be used in the long term. It was more of an information session to allow you to assess TW as a potential employer. For some people who may not have done applications in the past, the application skills workshop was a good session for understanding exactly what type of stuff HR is looking for.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Well structured. There was a whole range of different kinds of workshops going on and they did very well to organise everyone and make sure that each event was timely and useful.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was okay. It was good that the event was at the company office however the general atmosphere slightly lacked a sense of buzz and excitement compared to other insight days I have been to. Nevertheless, the sessions were very informative and gave a clear indication of TW being a leading firm in its industry.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As it was only a 1 day event, there was not much time for the development of extensive skills which can be used in the long term. It was more of an information session to allow you to assess TW as a potential employer. For some people who may not have done applications before, the application skills workshop at the end could have been very useful.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • They carried out business activity games which helped us understand what types of things each division do on a day to day basis. The presentations allowed us to gain an insight into the opinion of the people working there, what kind of projects they have worked on and what is expected of TW people. The networking events provided a chance to speak to employees including senior people who gave a very clear insight into their life at TW.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It helped that it was conducted at an actual TW office to we can experience the office culture. The sessions also touched on the firms culture but I feel that the nature of event. 1 day long, was too short to get an actual feel for the overall culture at the firm. The most representative was that given by recent graduate joiners who stressed inclusion as a major aspect of the firm.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • They carried out business activity games which helped us understand what types of things each division do on a day to day basis. The presentations allowed us to gain an insight into the opinion of the people working there, what kind of projects they have worked on and what is expected of TW people. The networking events provided a chance to speak to employees including senior employees in a more informal setting where we can ask individual questions about their day to day activities and a bit about their history at the firm.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Train journey was reimbursed.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The networking events provided a chance to speak to employees including senior employees in a more informal setting where we can ask individual questions about their day to day activities and a bit about their history at the firm. The sessions were of the correct difficulty this allowed more time to be spent on the things that students are interested in knowing about such as what the culture is like and what the values of the firm are.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking events provided a chance to speak to employees including senior employees in a more informal setting where we can ask individual questions about their day to day activities and a bit about their history at the firm. However employees were present throughout the day and we had opportunities to ask questions during the skills workshops too.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Throughout the day we can ask individual questions about their day to day activities and a bit about what they do outside of working hours. I found that TW encourages travelling, sports and charity work. This is reflective of the type of things that their people can be found doing all over the world.
