The Role
The internship was an interesting experience in that I learned a lot about the team that I was put in. However, due to my lack of experience there was little tasks that I could get involved in and I was often bored.
I got on with my team and the other employees extremely well. They were all so welcoming and we still keep in touch now am back at University which is great
During my internship I had a manager and a mentor. They were both excellent at helping me whenever I needed it and guiding me in the right direction. They also encouraged me to network, which meant I got to know a lot more about Morgan Stanley and was exposed to different departments.
I did have busy days but there was always help if I needed it. I was never bored as there was always something to do and something new to learn.
I was given a lot of responsibility which was brilliant as it made me feel like I was really adding value to the workplace. This definitely made me enjoy my job even more.
I had to give presentations throughout my year and this really built up my confidence. This is something that has helped me so far in my final year at University. Also, my time management was so important in my role that this is something I have also got good at.
The Company
Very good atmosphere. Everyone worked very hard and clients were everyones main focus, but we all had a laugh at the same time. The relationships were strong with everyone and so the atmosphere in the office was always very pleasant.
Very well organised. I had a mentor and a manager that I had regular catch ups with, there were at least monthly. I presented on 4 different topics and got feedback for each of these. I also has different mentors for each presentation, which was really good for getting to know more people. I then had a review at christmas and at the end of the placement
There were a lot of general training sessions for all interns to attend, such as overviews of the company as a whole and presentations from higher management. However in terms of direct feedback about my performance there was very little.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
I have got some very good feedback and I am definitely applying for a full time position this year.
The Culture
There was a good social scene, however this resulted mainly in the group planning events ourselves. In previous placements that I have undertaken, the company has paid for and organised many more events, team building exercises and nights out.
You can find a reasonable place to live in Glasgow. But I am from Glasgow anyway so didn't notice any difference.
I am a student in the same city as the office (Glasgow) so knew all about the nightlife!
Yes, one of the most appealing things about the company is the opportunities to get involved with charity work.
