    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight very much, I had the chance to see how things are really like from the inside and also met some great people.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Very much. I appreciated a lot that Managing Directors came to speak to us, as most insights include only junior people.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was always someone to talk to during the breaks, whether that is an HR or some of the graduates. Great networking opportunities.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was a bit disappointed that the focus of the insight was to introduce people into working in banking on a very very basic level. Some of the directors spoke of very basic finance notions that I think was a waste of time. Applying for the Insight would suggest some understanding of the subject. So overall, there was not anything new I learned.

    2/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was very well structured, with many and different activities. We were moving a lot and talked with many different people.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The room was freezing cold. Apart from that, everyone was very friendly and nice, and very keen to answer questions and give information, which was extremely valuable.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of training and development I don't feel that was the focus. We did a case study but we did not get any feedback on that so the main purpose was more of a chance to work with others and get to know them. Furthermore, the insight lasts a day so there is not much time for training.

    2/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Making the tour of the trading floor and speaking with traders was very informative and gave a good image of what it is like to work there and the day-to-day activities.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Everyone was very nice and having the chance to observe people while they work was an opportunity to see the actual relationships and culture. All the seniors talked about culture of teams instead of star-bankers, which, I believe, is an important guidance on whether someone would want to pursue a career at RBC.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I already knew what I want my career path to be, so the Insight just confirmed that.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I did not need a reimbursement and was not paid, as I live in London

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, we had a lovely tea party at the end with graduates and employees from different divisions. It was a great opportunity as it went on for quite some time so we could talk with everyone and ask them questions. I just wished that some of the senior people could be there too.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Great. We had the chance to exchange emails and keep in touch in the future.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The only activity I knew about is the Graduate Training programme in Toronto where you can meet all the other analysts from your year and keep in touch in the future, which sounds amazing.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. It is a great opportunity to see the place from the inside before applying for a position.

    5/5
