    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Definitely the best experience I've had so far! I'm extremely grateful and lucky to have the opportunity to be here and I'm looking forward to apply back as a graduate.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone in the organization treats you as a valuable member of the team. You can easily approach anyone with any queries, even if it is a L4 or even L3, which makes you feel as part of the family.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Interns at HP are given support and training from the very start. If you are proactive enough and show interest in what you do, you will definitely get the best guidance. As said before, anyone is ready to help, all you need to do is ask question. Always. Not to mention that there are thousands of online courses and lessons on any topics to you wish to learn about.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It really depends on how proactive you are as an individual, but generally I would say that interns are kept pretty busy. There are days when there is more work to do and you may need to work extra hours in order to finish the task in time. And again, I'm judging based on my experience, other roles may be slightly different. But there is definitely a balance I'd say. And if you ever get bored, just make sure that you ask your manager to get involved in more activities, there will always be something to do or learn.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was actually pleasantly surprised by the level of responsibility we are given as interns. From the very start I was given a whole project to run by myself (with guidance and support from managers, of course). Many tasks I've been running are critical for other projects as well, so I felt that I am really making a contribution in this organisation. It gets scary to think how much things depend on you sometimes, but that's the beauty of learning.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I could say that I've gained more knowledge this year than in any other years. Even at university all you learn is pretty much theory, while practice is entirely different. The main skills I've gained are transferable ones which will help me in the future, not only at work but generally in life. Here you learn how to connect and build relationships with people, which in my opinion is more important than knowing an Excel formula.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • HP has a huge community of interns and graduates. I was lucky enough to have loads of other students around me which caused so much fun everyday.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. The whole intern and graduate programs are arranged in advance and ran by amazing managers which I've had the honor to meet and get along with.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Am extremely grateful for all the investment, all the courses, training, and personal time mentors spend with us. The support and dedication we are given is amazing, I couldn't thank enough everyone in this organization for everything they taught me.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The opportunities for development and growth on the career path you have at HP are unbelievable. I am definitely looking forward to apply and hopefully come back after graduation. It is an awesome place to be.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good, made really close friends which I hope to keep in touch in future as well.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • All interns that are based in Bracknell office live in Reading close to each other so you can easily share accommodation with anyone you want. The costs of living and going out aren't too bad as well.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It wasn't too bad too. There were few pubs and bars around.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are many things organised in the office, and that includes activities for charity, such as baking, gardening, organising events and many many more. Apart from that, Marathons, sports, social life etc.
