The Role
I was given a significant amount of responsibility with set deadlines and deliverable. Furthermore, the work I was given was interesting and engaging.
Everyone at the firm ensures that you feel at home during the internship.
We received a series of talks from senior managing directors throughout the internship. These talks provided insight into their experiences both at Morgan Stanley and at other firms.
I was busy everyday, however as the work was engaging I was never bored.
I was given much more responsibility that I thought I would be given.
I had the chance to greatly improve my excel skills and time management skills throughout the internship. Since returning to university I have found that this has been beneficial.
The Company
It depends which desk you are working with, but in general everyone was sociable and happy to spend time explaining concepts.
Overall the internship was very well organised and ran smoothly.
Morgan Stanley employees dedicated a lot of time to helping me understand concepts. Everyone was happy to spend half an hour or more to go through topics. It's effectively the start of your training at the firm for a full time role.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
I was offered a full time position for 2015.
The Culture
The social scene could have been improved by having a lot more events during the first three weeks.
Given that it was central London, socialising was expensive
Canary Wharf is not renowned for nightlife, however central London is a quick tube journey away.
Although sports groups did exist, there was little time available during the internship to make use of them.
