The Role
In 10 weeks only Morgan Stanley manages to offer to the Interns a full overview of what it means working for them. Apart from the work itself, the possibility to know how the other departments work and the informal events organized along the Internship make you fully understand the MS culture.
Interns receive projects to work on that are then used by professionals as a base to start from in their future research.
Everybody is willing to help you, they appreciate you being curious and they want to share their knowledge / experiences with you.
Interns work on several projects at the same time, so there are long hours to cope with. This is a kind of job that is never "finished". You want to do your best, and deliver works that reflect the best you can do.
I worked on projects by my own that then were checked from my supervisors.
The presentation skills and the way of exposing a complex idea in few words are useful in my studies.
The Company
It is an "ideas generation" atmosphere: people in Research are studying, and have frequent interactions with other professionals.
Rotation in two teams, individual projects to work on, weekly sector overviews and coffees organized with senior people.
Initial training of 10 days + Several opportunities to attend presentations and conferences... A continuous learning experience
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
The career path is clearly defined from day 1, and senior positions are appealing
The Culture
Lots of company events, both for interns only and with professionals
London is expensive, no news!
Canary Wharf is a working place. Apart from the happy hour after work, it is the "city of ghosts" at night and in the weekends.
Not really during the week. You spend a lot of time at work!
