The Role
My internship was very enjoyable as I learnt a lot about the field that I am interested in. In addition, I was able to engage with other interns and learn more about the areas they were working in which was great
I was given responsibilities from the first day and I was always treated as part of the team which made a positive impact on my time spent with Barclays.
I had one to one meetings with my line manager every week where I was able to ask any questions I had. I was assessed half way through my internship and at the end to discuss my progress and where there was room for improvement. I also had regular catch ups with my buddy and mentors!
There was always work for me to do! I rarely found myself without anything to do
I was fully responsible for myself during my internship. With regards to work, I was able to ask questions when unsure but otherwise, I had full responsibility for most of the work I did.
Spending 9 weeks in the working world taught me a great amount. From learning new tricks on Excel to understanding how to behave within a work environment are skills that I will keep with me in the future!
The Company
The atmosphere was always positive even when there was a lot going on. Everyone was willing to help and teach me things I was unsure about which made the work more enjoyable.
The internship was organised brilliantly - it definitely exceeded my expectations. There was more to it than just working behind a desk which was what I found so valuable.
The first few days of the summer internship were purely training which allowed us to slowly ease our way into the working world. Throughout my internship, I received learning sessions with knowledgeable people within the bank which taught me a great deal.

The culture within the firm is brilliant and the people themselves are great, so I would definitely go back! The grad scheme is organised well and there are many opportunities for one to progress through the firm.
The Culture
I met with fellow interns on many occasions and by the end of it, I had formed good friendships. The internship allowed me to build a network with those who were in my field as well as those in different fields.
I lived at home so I did not have to bear the cost of renting. Socializing is can be fairly expensive though!
The nightlife is good - there are many places to go; it is central London after all.
Yes - there are many clubs and activities that one can be a part of.
