The Role
Amazing - it was a taste of "real life in the industry" - real projects with strict and fairly short deadlines and high quality code expected. Had to work hard and concentrate on developing my skills in order to be able to keep up.
Some people were surprised to find out that I am an intern, as they were confident that I am an associate already. I received very positive feedback from everyone in our team.
Could always ask and clarify some aspects if they were not clear. The feedback was always constructive - very honest and direct.
Extremely busy - the placement was very intense, as there were many things to learn, e.g new programming languages and internal systems. Learning had to be done "on the fly", as there were plenty of things to work on.
Worked for Trading Flow Analysis team, no Mickey Mouse projects, had to write real and complicated pieces of software. Have been treated like a team member, not like an intern.
I feel much more confident as a programmer and software engineer. Have learned two new programming languages, design patterns, agile aspects and many other things.
The Company
People were nice. The atmosphere was busy, but at the same time it was interesting.
Very well organized indeed. Knew exactly when what I am doing and where I am going. Everything was nicely scheduled, with remainders sent beforehand.
There was a large number of various training sessions, including finance and infrastructure.

The Culture
Great fun, had some unforgettable moments.
Very high - Canary Wharf is quite expensive.
Did not care about nightlife, sorry.
There was a large number of volunteering activities were offered, emailed every month to all interns and employees.
