The Role
I really enjoyed my internship; I felt part of Morgan Stanley's team even though I was staying only for a short period. The management invest a lot in its interns by providing us with many activities and projects to understand if we are suited for the position but also if the the position suits us.
As stated earlier, I felt part of the teams. I was given projects that were actually used for the work of my teams, I participated to client meetings and I was also involved in extra-work activities (i.e. the JP Morgan race).
There was always someone you could go talk to if you had a problem or an hesitation and people were willing to give away their time for their interns.
As an intern, I was pretty busy but it is part of the banking industry. It was very good because it gave me a good "taste" of what would my days be like if I were to be a full-time analyst.
I was not "running the show" but I was given projects that were used for the team's reports so I think that my help was useful for my teams.
It was very useful for a personal point of view (coping with the stress, the long hours etc...) but also for a technical point of view (looking through financial statements etc...).
The Company
The general atmosphere was very serious, people were very busy working but you could always go talk to them and ask if they were available for a coffee (their answer was always "yes").
Good organisation, we are kept busy!!
We had conferences every week on how to develop your personal skills. Moreover, a lot of networking events were organized so we could ask as many questions as we wanted that could be on a personal level.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I got offered a full-time position.
The Culture
Interns got on relatively well with each other as a lot of events were organized for us to meet each other.
It was quite expensive but it is London!
Canary Wharf is more of a working area than a Nightlife area!
There were a lot of activities organized for us outside of work (volunteering, interbank races and many others...).
