    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • One of the best thing about the internship was the fact that I truely felt that my work is being appreciated by my collegues.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • It was really awesome that whenever I did not know something I could turn around and ask my manager absolutely any question. I received countless tips and guidelines that helped me fulfill my objectives and develop my skills.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was never bored during my time in Barclays. The tasks I was given were quite diverse, which made my internship pretty exciting.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I believe that as an intern I was given quite a lot responsibility. I had my own project to deliver, that at the end of the internship was supposed to be released to the clients - it was a totally new experience for me and I am glad that I was given a chance to work on such a project.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship was a great opportunity to use the knowledge and skills developed in my uni and test myself.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Before the internship I had worried that the atmosphere in bank might be a little dull - as it turned out my worries were completely unnecessary. The atmosphere was really friendly and I felt welcome from the day one.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The Barclays Internship Programme is one of the best (or maybe THE best) available programme in Europe. Everything was organized perfectly, there were many events prepared for the interns and I believe that every one of us benefited a lot from the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were plenty of educational sessions with professionals working at Barclays - basically every week there was at least one such meeting. What is worth mentioning, those sessions were really well prepared and perfectly carried out - personally I learned quite a lot from them.

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I got an offer for a Grad Scheme which lasts several months and is a great opportunity to further explore the company and start a career in banking.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London (and Canary Wharf, were Barclays is located) might not be the cheapest place for living and socialising. On the other hand, I cannot say that the pay I was given during the internship was not enough.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The Canary Wharf offers a really nice Nightlife - you can choose from a wide range of bars and restaurants and (more importantly) you might meet many interesting, like-minded people.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If you want to get involved in activities outside of work, Barclays is definitely place for you. There is a huge range of activities that you can choose from. You might do charity, take part in sport events and many, many more!
