    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • We were given a reasonable amount of support while on the job, never let to struggle. Colleagues were extremely nice and approachable, willing to help any time,

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given a certain level of responsibilities and meaningful work to do. My colleagues respected me and incorporated me into the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given sufficient support and never let to struggle. My colleagues and especially my supervisor/line manager was more than willing to explain everything to me, including more general things about the company in order to give me an understading of the bigger picture.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Work depends a lot as it is mainly client driven and summer tends to be a rather chilled period as most of the people are on holiday. Work-life balance is definitely very good and there is no such a thing as face time - as long as you have done your work, people were pretty flexible.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A reasonable amount of responsibilities, including managing projects along with more senior people and occassionally participating in client meetings.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The initial training we received was mainly soft skills, such as presentation skills, which was useful. Maybe some more technical training would have been also good to have. Otherwise, you develop a lot of important skills, such as communication and presentation skills, and definitely improve at multi-tasking and time management.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People were very friendly and everybody had a very positive attitude towards us.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Given that it was a time of big changes in the organization overall, it was fine.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had initial training and then at least weekly meetings were organized with senior people from different parts of the business which were very interesting and useful.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • I was offered a place on their graduate scheme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Other interns were very friendly and we were usually going for drinks on Fridays and occassionally during the week.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive which comes as no surprise, but still there were some affordable places.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Canary Wharf offers some good places for drinks after work, but perhaps Central London is better.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had a volunteering day.
