The Role
Very enjoyable. The firm and especially the team did everything they could to help me learn a lot and see plenty of different things. Always intense, never boring.
Within the team, team spirit was very strong and that quickly extended to the interns. No hard words when mistakes were made and lots of encouragement and good conversations.
Fully. Even very senior team members always open to answer questions and regular counselling sessions helped a lot.
Very. But I was hoping for that and completing projects at high intensity is extremely rewarding.
An incredible amount from the start. I really was not expecting that, but substantial parts of important projects were placed in my hands from the start, towards the end of the internship with decreasing supervision.
Nothing to do with my degree, but invaluable insight into the financial sector and some of the sectors my team covered.
The Company
Clearly dependent on how busy the team was and whether deadlines were to be met. Therefore anywhere between intense concentration and a cheerful mood especially on Friday afternoons.
All planned perfectly from day one.
A week of classroom training to start a 10 week internship. That is substantial and helped me a lot to get off to a good start. Weekly talks/trainings in later weeks.

I was offered a highly attractive job.
The Culture
Work is intense and so are the hours. Luckily, I got along very well with most colleagues and other interns. As such there were many nice lunches, dinners, coffee breaks and a few nights out.
Canary Wharf is not exactly cheap.
There are a few bars and restaurants but most people in Canary Wharf looking for a night out head into central London.
Some (many offered by the firm such as sports, culture, volunteer work). Due to the workload, I could not participate in too many.
