The Role
Enjoyed it a huge amount, it was stressful and intense at times, especially coming from a non-finance background
Everyone made the interns feel incredibly welcome and ensured we knew they valued the work we were doing.
There was always someone around who was happy to help me.
Fluctuations in work volume are a natural consequence of working in IBD, so it was unavoidable that sometimes we were too busy or not busy enough.
I was given a sensible amount of responsibility, not too little or too much so that it was too daunting.
Skills for life, not necessary helpful for my degree as I'm doing Science but invaluable to have this experience before starting a career in investment banking.
The Company
Everyone was full of energy and humour, I laughed a lot every day. Having such fun people around definitely made the hours more doable.
Very well organised by HR, excellent training at the start of the internship and then networking events were organised throughout the internship, however it was sometimes difficult the latter with the IBD work load.
We were given fantastic training which assumed very little knowledge at the start of the internship. during the body of the internship there was always someone around who I could also for help or for teaching.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
They had the capacity to hire all of us, this made the atmosphere between the interns a collaborative one.
The Culture
All interns went out every weekend, often several times a weekend!
London is very expensive.
There are some good bars in Canary Wharf but most people opt for going into central London.
Lots of the interns went out together.
