About You
I enjoyed the day very much as I got to learn about Towers Watson's services and speak to qualified actuaries, all in a professional yet welcoming atmosphere.
Towers Watson had to put together a day of workshops and presentations, which employees delivered despite their busy schedules, just so we could learn about the company which suggests to me Towers Watson valued us. However, there was a lack of being personally valued, which is understandable given that the Insight Programme is only a day.
Plenty of guidance and support during presentations and business exercises. All the presenters were very happy to help you and answer any questions.
The skills I developed are less relevant to university work but will be invaluable when applying for jobs. For example, there was a brief but very useful workshop on application and interview technique. Furthermore, the insight day provided a great opportunity to see and explore the different services Towers Watson offer which will provide a strong advantage if you apply to Towers Watson specifically.
The Company
Very well structured - the day was broken down into presentations and workshops based on the different services Towers Watson provide.
Very professional but it was always obvious any question was welcome.
Towers Watson invested a lot of their time into helping you develop, for example through the application and interview workshop .
You learnt about the culture of the company on the day, but it is very hard to completely describe a full time role at Towers Watson as there are so many different business areas and each job will vary. However, you definitely got a good general view of what working there is like.
The presentations and talking to employees gave a good impression of what the company's culture is like, but the Insight Programme was only one day long, which perhaps isn't long enough to have a completely accurate impression of the company's culture.
Extremely valuable - I learnt about many different career paths and hence been able to focus in where I want to go.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed.
We had lunch with employees from Towers Watson and hence were able to meet and talk with them.
Good, I got to talk to the people I wanted to. Perhaps being able to speak for longer would have been useful - but there was a lot to get through in the day!
Some employees mentioned the activities that many employees participate in.
Yes, it was a great learning experience.
