The Role
It was a great experience overall, I was given a good amount of responsibility and learned a lot about financial markets.
My team often let me know during very busy periods that they were glad that I was there, and I generally felt like I was adding value to the team.
My manager was very helpful whenever I asked for help, despite having a very busy schedule.
The nature of the job itself is busy, and I was placed into one of the busiest teams on my floor, which combined with arriving just as a team member was leaving provided for a great learning curve and very busy environment, which is something I enjoyed a lot.
I was up and running having the same responsibilities as the graduates within months.
Seeing what I learned in my finance classes in practice through client trading was a great experience. I also learned a lot about making quick decisions, prioritising work and handling a large workload.
The Company
It was very busy, but helpful. People were outgoing and whenever they had the time they would happily answer and of my questions. Between teams it was very informal and I made good friends at the company. It was sometimes stressful but that just comes with the job.
Everything was well organised.
We had a three day training in the beginning, and online training courses throughout.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Quite good overall, if you do well you have a very good chance of getting offered a job after graduation.
The Culture
Yes, we organised numerous events and nights out.
Glasgow is not a particularly expensive city, but it's really easy to spend all of your earnings in a few nights.
Glasgow nightlife is great in general, I can only recommend it.
A few volunteering opportunities and some good company events.
