    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It offered a unique opportunity to tune my own job role to what I wanted from my placement year, and in a diverse role I could learn from all aspects of the business.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt that I was valued as a young professional, and made some close firends within the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was mentored by someone within my team and the two managers within the department; I was offered a lot of support with my initial work and given freedom later in the year as I accumulated experience to generate new reports and processes to add value to departmental outputs

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Throughout the year I did several hours of overtime - the main report I was responsible for had three submissions and around each of the deadlines it was very busy. After the last, towards the end of my placement there is a little free time to develop tools, as its not as busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for very important internal reports that would be shown at all levels of the businesses and used as backup data throughout the next financial year

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed some existing skills I had gained from part time work before university, this year has concreted them as well as taught me some technical skills with financial reporting and Visual Basic coding. These have been developed both on the job and through classroom training offered by the company.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We could always have a laugh and enjoy the working day, but there is a job to be done - so somtimes people had thier heads down.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had my work for the year planned before I started and was shown this as part of my induction. There was an induction day as well as monthly meetings with my line manager to discuss progress.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was offered and attended several classroom taining courses.
