    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was really happy to have secured a placement with a reputable, international company as I thought I would experience and learn lots - which was the impression given to me in my interview. In reality, Bosch employ in excess of 50 students per year and treat them as slaves as we are cheaper to employ than permanent members of staff. In one department of approximately 30, 15 were students. Throughout the 12 months I not once received any feedback on my performance. The office atmosphere was awful. • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was not valued by my colleagues one bit. They never thanked me for the work I did and as previously mentioned,[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • No fortnightly meetings as promised, no support towards University work, no praise or feedback.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a really good workload which kept me busy. At times I had too much work but it's better than having nothing to do - which included filing which managers couldn't be bothered to put back and therefore gave it to the students to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibilities which was probably the best thing about the placement year.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I didn't receive any training, however I used SAP on a daily basis which I hope will assist me in my future career.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Lack of organisation at the beginning. One desk for three people to share. Improved slightly.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The department in which I worked were obsessed with spending as little money as possible. Training was not, and would never have been an opportunity. We are only there for 12 years and they wouldn't want to go out of their way to help us!
