About You
The barristers and clerks were all very friendly. They made me feel welcome and made plenty of effort to allow me to get involved.
The barristers and clerks took time and effort to speak to me and answer my questions.
The barristers answered any questions I had about being and becoming a barrister.
It was very useful to see the life of a barrister. I received useful advice concerning becoming and being a barrister. It is also useful to show an interest in the Bar.
The Company
Mini-pupillages are inherently "unstructured" since it is not possible to know in advance what the work the barristers will have. It is necessary to find out from the clerks the day before where to go and whom to shadow. Despite and within the context of these inherent limitations, the mini-pupillage was well-organised. The clerks were always able to find my interesting things to do and I got to see a good range of practice.
Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Not applicable - training was not part of the mini-pupillage except things learnt via shadowing.
It was very useful to find out the atmosphere of a barristers' chambers, and in particular Fenners Chambers, which seemed like a particularly friendly place to work. I was also able to see the sort of work the barristers do.
I was able to see that it was a very friendly atmosphere. The barristers all got on well and had good friendly relationships with each other.
Everything Else
Yes, I was able to meet a wide variety of barristers and various levels in their careers. I met a number of barristers over my mini-pupillage - both experienced and newly started.
I had lunch with a couple of barristers at the pub, although it was ad hoc and not organised as part of the placement.
I was able to speak to the barristers to find out their work-life balance to see how much the job can affect their social / family life etc.
Definitely - in fact I already have recommended Fenners Chambers to a friend.
