    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Absolutely loved my time there, was always made to feel welcome and became comfortable in my surroundings very quickly as a result.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Completing tasks that trainees would have themselves been concerned with definitely made me feel valued. Also being able to create presentations and research that would be used in client interactions was also useful for me to see some value created by my work.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Everything was explained clearly and I could always ask for confirmation or clarity if needed, knowing I would get some valuable time and attention for my queries.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've definitely learnt that precise reading of texts is paramount, so I think my reading and scanning skills have developed a lot. Most of the work I completed was research heavy, so my skills in finding the right information, and cross-referencing versus other sources have improved dramatically. In both of these areas, I should be able to translate these skills to my degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Perfect balance between desk time and being immersed in real-time work, social time which was valuable for group dynamics and to make me feel comfortable with new people on short notice, and structured seminars on practice areas. These in particular helped me to make an informed choice in going forward, hopefully with Bakers into the future.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • In the office, a great balance between creating a conducive work environment while still making time for lively discussion and friendliness. The atmosphere was also welcoming and warm at charity events, and I was made to feel like a full employee quite easily.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Immersing myself in an office, with my own desk, and carrying out trainee tasks gave me the best insight as to what the firm does on a daily basis and therefore what I would be doing as well. On top of this, seminars delivered by more senior employees, as well as a lunch with the Management Committee gave me a holistic view of the firm and what potential progression may also look like.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was impossible not to understand the company culture after only one week. During this week I was immersed in real work, and spent time with trainees outside the office on a social as well as attending a charity event. From these experiences, as well as the general conversations I was having I was able to gain a total view of the company culture.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Pay was competitive and very generous for three weeks work.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Mostly the chance to meet trainees at socials, but also plenty of chance to gain work from anybody around you. Their doors were almost always open.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Friendly atmosphere meant that networking and socialising was easy, which made everyone feel comfortable by the end of the programme around one another.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Informative booklet given on the first day which outlined the nature of out-of-office life. The amount of sports teams, and other extra activities offered through the firm seems to contribute to the bonds, and general friendly environment within it.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 5/5
