  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyable experience, everyone really makes an effort to include you and make sure you are always learning and making the most of your internship.

  • It is helpful to identify your own outstanding skills and relay these to your team members so you can help out with any tasks the team have.

  • You are always given feedback and there is a mid and end review so you always know if there is anything you need to work on.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • If your manager is away or busy it is up to you to find work, but there is usually something you can learn or work on to occupy yourself.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You get to work on the same projects the rest of the team do, though there were checks in place to check for mistakes to mitigate risk, but I saw this as a good thing.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Doing project work really prepares you for project work at University, and I now know exactly what skills I want to pick up at University to help me in a career here.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People are generally willing to talk and people are enthusiastic about the work they do.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really good organisation, everyone had their own desk and email account set up when they came and all relevant software for each person was provided. The networking events were pulled off really well so people never felt uncomfortable.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Really well delivered training is provided. There is general training, introduction to financial products, communication skills and there are division specific training event. My division received an outstanding Presentation Skills day where I really felt I improved my style. There are also online training courses available if you need to brush up on any skills.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • During the internship you can speak to graduate starters, people who have completed graduate schemes and experienced professionals so you can get an idea of how flexible the company is with regards to progressing through the company and moving around.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As everyone is of a similar age and in the same boat, there is a really good social atmosphere and the social events put on by the Campus Team really help the different teams integrate, so I've made friends from all different divisions.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Yes, it is London, but you just need to watch what you are paying for.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Plenty of variety around the city for all kinds of people.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As well as all the networking events, which were most weeks, there is also a gym and many of us went to touch rugby training sessions every week, which is a really good way to try something new and get to know other interns.
