    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was engaging, and provided me with a good insight into the operation of a large engineering firm.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were very helpful and friendly from the start, and I was provided with work that helped to develop my skills at the same time as being useful towards projects that were taking place within the company.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor has been excellent in providing help and feedback wherever it was needed.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I have been fairly busy so far with the occasional lull in the amount of work I had to do, though during lulls there are plenty of training materials available for employees to further develop their skills.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given real responsibilities from the start that reflected my skill range, so that the working I was doing wasn't so far outside of my comfort zone that I found it impossible, but it did push me to develop my skills and become more competent in the software I was using.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The insights I have received so far have been massively beneficial, and will surely help me throughout the rest of my academic and professional career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a lively atmosphere in the office, though everyone at the company is driven to perform at their highest potential, so most of the conversation is strongly related to work topics.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From my first day, I felt like I seamlessly fit into the group of people I was working with, and was up and running within the first 2 days of starting.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are many training materials and courses available to employees of the company, and everyone is strongly encouraged to make the most of them, so that their personal and professional development can benefit greatly.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Everyone who has been on the undergraduate placement scheme is encouraged to reapply for a graduate placement or placement the following year.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There has been a large effort made to ensure that students at the company are in touch with each other from before they started, so that things like going to the pub and socialising could be easily organised.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As a student, Leamington Spa can be quite expensive, though knowing the right places to go can definitely save a lot of money.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are loads of pubs and bars in Leamington Spa, with a few nightclubs too, and with it being a student town things are biased quite strongly towards affordable socialising in certain places.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There have been some opportunities, but mostly organised by the students on the placement themselves.

    3/5
