The Role
- Role Description
I was working in a team that was responsible for the servicing and sending out of the promo cds and checking the conditions, stock-level and availability of the label's cds.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
I am greatly interested and obsessed with the music industry and so for me the placement was a dream come true and I loved going into work each day.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
People could sense my enthusiasm and genuine thrill to be working for the company and so they were all friendly and joked about my, most of the time, over the top enthusiasm and dedication to the job.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
I was always given support and guidance by the management and whenever I had a question or a suggestion they always listened and gave me a great answer or tip.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
There were always a constant stream of jobs to do so I were never too busy or too bored with nothing to do.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
At first I was just given menial or small, yet still enjoyable, tasks but towards the end of my time I was entrusted with writing a few of the promo sheets which are sent with the cds to advertise the artist and the cd. These are an important part of a cd's release and so I was priviliged to be given the chance to write them for a few of the artists.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
The skills haven't benefited me during my last year at uni but they will when I go into fulltime work as this is the type of job I do want to do.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
People were lovely and friendly and I had a great time talking to them.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Really well organised.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
I didn't really recieve much training as none was needed. If I had been on a year-long placement I probably would have recieved more significant training.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Company Parties/Events
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
I would love to work here as my fulltime job and will definitely contact them when I graduate.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
There were two other placement students but we were all on different levels and departments so we never really talked or got friendly.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
My placement was unpaid so my parent's paid for a flat to rent for me which was small and cramped but atleast it was somewhere to live. I didn't really have much money to spend socialising.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
I couldn't really afford to go on a lot of nights out so I'm not really able to say.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
I were never involved in any activities.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
Awesome if you love the music industry! Once in a lifetime!
