Largely working on marcomms for our Business unit, also support for campaigns and promotions.

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

Overall the year was good - however working for such a large organisation meant that everything was very impersonal and alot of time was spent on email and in the office, which did not suit me very well.

I worked closely with my immediate team which was great - but as i was in contact with so many people on a daily basis (internal and external to the company) i didnt work as closely with people as i would have liked.

Support from colleagues was great, however there was not alot of guidance issued by my line managers. I would have liked to have had catch up sessions on a regular basis to help get the most out of my placement.

My roles were varied and working in a large team meant that more than one manager could align work to you. I was very busy from day to day and there were very few times when i found myself asking for addtitional work or not having alot to do.

As i progressed over the year, my responsibility grew considerably. There were times when i enjoyed having the freedom and trust to complete work - however on occasion it seemed there was alot of pressure for an intern role.

I think i learnt a great deal throughout the year and will continue to use these skills in my final year of study and beyond in future jobs.

There were a large group of interns working in the office which provided entertainment on a daily basis.

Very well - HP values theirs interns and use them as normal employees. I think that the appraisal scheme could have been better.

Alot of time was spent on training and teachinh, especially in the initial months.

Fairly costly, however our salary was plenty enough to cover costs.

Reading night life was ok - fairly small town, so glad we were only there for a year!
