    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was great for gaining some experience into project management and scheduling, I would have liked some more creativity in the role however.

  • I fitted into the team well as was treated like a full time employee and not a placement student

  • A lot of reviews and feedback as well as being a source of help and guidance when needed

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Over the first 6 months I found myself being bored every so often, as the placement moved into the final 6 months things really picked up.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was sourcing suppliers as well as editing and reviewing marketing communications materials which would be used in campaigns and at events.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Project management training will definitely be a strong platform from which to base my dissertation and the other modules for my final year, I feel a lot more confident now than I would have otherwise

  • The people I worked with were great, it was normally a good balance between fun and hard work.

  • The placement year has been something Cummins have been doing on site for years now and so has a well organized structure

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I received a 2 day training course in project management along with senior employees from throughout the business. I also received 4 separate days of training which were placement student sepcific on things such as presenting and adapting the the work environment.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having hired new people for when my placement has finished I feel the headcount will no leave room for me to come back, I feel ready for a different challenge now either way.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not the liveliest place to live, some nice spots and great weather in the summer months - nice beach

  • reasonably expensive

  • not the place to be for hectic nightlife

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • yes I played football and had the options of other sports and other events too. The sports and social club run events through work such as day trips.
