    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I always felt very valued and the biggest thing I can say about this is that i never felt like a placement student, I was more like a fellow co-worker.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Every manager I had was very supportive and would go out of thir way to help me howver becaus eof the change in the company whilst I was there (the takeover by tata) I ended up having around 4 different managers during my placement!

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Same as most jobs had times where I would be incredibly busy adn would have days where nothing much happened. During both periods it was never too stressfull or too mundane as you could always get help or ask for more work.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In terms of what I was working on I had a great deal of responsibility, this made me a lot more enthuisiastic and motivated about the job.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In terms of working in a B2B environment I will always be able to refer back to the skills I learnt. Also my communication skills improved dramatically.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I worked there during a difficult time, during the TATA takeover people were unsure about whther they would still have a job and ultimately this lowered morale. However apart from that period of change which lasted about 2 months the office was a great environment to work in, there was some great banter.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked there during a difficult time, during the TATA takeover people were unsure about whther they would still have a job and ultimately this lowered morale. However apart from that period of change which lasted about 2 months the office was a great environment to work in, there was some great banter.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. It was the fourth year Corus had taken on a placement so they knew what they was doing! They also made sure there was an ovelap period between me and my mentor so I wasnt thrown in the deep end!

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They trained me very well in terms of what i needed to know to do the day to day activities for my role. They also provided me with driver training experience because you use hire cars a lot of the time.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. The graduate scheme they have is recognised in the Times 100 and it pays well and gives you the chance to be promoted within.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • In my office there was only me and another student. However we got on very well and yu do meet other students from different business units. Social events were always attended by all so you do get to know the other staff very well.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I worked in Rotherham I stayed in Sheff seen as it was only a 40 minute commute, even in rush hour. Student area is dirt cheap for going out and cost of living is cheap in comparison to what you earn.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As i said if working in Rotherham its best to live in Sheffield as the nightlife is 10 times better and a lot more student orientated.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a couple but maily sports based which suited me perfectly but if your not in to your sports then no theres not that much.

    2/5
