Job Title: Marketing Assistant

The Role
- Role Description
My job involved many varied tasks including:
- Brand management of ‘SqueezMe!’ sauce pods and the ‘lights’ sachet range. This involved creating brand plans for the year by analysing research and sales figures, adding lots of creativity, and then implementing these plans.
- Keeping in constant contact with our agencies to deliver specific and well presented briefs for projects, approve adverts, create POS kits and help with creative ideas.
- Tracking and presenting the budget for the sauces marketing team including processing purchase orders through the newly introduced SAP system which I learnt quickly and taught many senior team members how to use.
- Working closely with the regional sales teams and being the point of contact for customer queries to create bespoke marketing solutions for their needs
- Managing the merchandiser solutions for the sauces team including developing the range, making cost savings, finding storage solutions and creating a guide for the sales and marketing teams to use.
- Daddies packaging re-brand – using a high attention to detail and liaising with factories for information I worked closely with our design agency and legal team to approve the new range of Daddies packaging.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
This role vastly improved my communication and organizational skills along with my marketing knowledge and creative flair giving me confidence in my ability and turning my enthusiasm into results
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I received an excellence award - never won by a placement student before and also gained highlight of the week for a creative and successful ‘SqueezMe!’ promotion I carried out from concept to implementation
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
My manager would meet with me once a week to check where I was with all my projects and give any guidance and help that I needed
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Very busy role! Had to stay late most days but was a good chance to experience a busy environment.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
Given total responsibility for my own brands managed own budgets and after a few months was doing my own thing completely!
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
Excellent experience to talk about in interviews
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Was alot of older people in my team but was 16 placement students within the company so had lots of fun with them!
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Staff shortages meant that the structure was not really in place but allowed more freedom and responsibility for me so I was happy!
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
Just got on with the job really! No formal training offered
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Subsidised Canteen
- Financial Bonus
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
London location is not what I am looking for long term but the company is very appealing
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Lots of fun nights out and good camaradery with 16 placement students in the business!
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Living in London is very expensive and your wage doesn't go far there
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Lots to do but very expensive. Lived in Ealing rather than where the office was as lots more going on there.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
Only with the other placement students
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
Excellent company to have on your CV!
