About You
The insight week was ok, not the best experience I have had. I was observing the customer service side of the business how, employees, promote, serve and show and some form of interests into customers for them to buy products.
I felt much like a stranger whilst my time here, employees were too busy doing their job they were unable to offer me support or guidance on how they drive up sales. I found this very frustrating and felt like a customer who was just looking around in the shop.
I received little guidance and support as most of my time i was observing employees rather than actually trying to use their sale skills to make customers buy certain products. I found my time here not the best but did learn a little.
It was kind of a waste of time as i learned nothing special or valuable towards my degree or skills. I already learned about how to drive sales up, but never learned how an individual drives sales. I was hoping to learn this here but unfortunately didn't.
The Company
It was very straight forward that structured, I met the store manager and was handed over to an employee who put me with different staff members each day, who really didn't help me with guidance or support. I was working on my own most the time.
The store atmosphere was really exciting, in some ways kept me entertained, overall people I was observing were enthusiastic about their role and did a good job of showing it to customers.
Not much i would say i was working and learning on my own most of the time. I found this very difficult as i couldn't learn new things. Again most employees were unhelpful.
Insight week did teach me that if I did work here then I would basically do a weeks training and then hit the shop floor and learn on the go. This is good but when the correct skills and knowledge are given correctly a person can understand and work better i believe.
The insight gave me a good idea of the culture of the company to sell unique products to customers and offer different services. I believe they do this so that customer feel that this is the only shop they need to shop at.
VERY incredible as it has taught me that if i did end up working as a sales advisor then i am alone with no support or guidance. Therefore i wouldn't consider it all for a career path.
Everything Else
I wasn't paid or reimbursed whilst i was here, this is mainly because it was an insight.
There was a networking area the sales staff which i met all of them but expect for that i didn't meet any other employees within the business. I was hoping to meet other important people and the store but unfortunately wasn't given the opportunity to do so.
Their where no social or networking events whilst i was their. I am not sure why though. It would have been nice if they offered me some kind of event throughout the week to attend.
Unfortunately no, this is mainly because the staff didn't really say much toward me. I felt like an intruder entering their personal space on the shop floor. It would have been nice to find out different opportunity outside the workplace the employee did.
No not really, i had a bad experience here but this was only one store. Each store will be different and its up to the manager to make your experience worthwhile or not.
