  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my time here so much! My colleagues were friendly and supportive, I met life long friends and felt valued and appreciated.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were very friendly from the start. Whilst I was completing my projects they let me know how important my contribution was.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • On my first day I had a one to one introduction meeting with the head of the department. After that my colleagues regularly check on my progress and offered their support. They answered all my questions and were always helpful.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given an outline of all the projects that they wanted me to complete and the expected timeframe so i knew what i was doing right from the start. As a result, I always had something to do because even if I finished a project i didnt have to wait for someone to give me a new one.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Most of the work I did was research based so there wasnt that much responsibility placed on me. However, the work that I was doing was quite important and their ability to meet new businesses was dependent on my research.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As this was my first proper job in the Banking Industry i learnt lots of skills that will stay with me for life. I learnt how to manage my work load, work independently, and interact with people in high positions and just general work skills. My experience here really boosted my CV and helped me to secure a permanent job in a top Investment Management firm.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in a small team and most of my colleagues were away everyday visiting businesses. The atmosphere was good and there was a good balance of chat and hard work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My internship was organised perfectly. I knew exactly what was expected of me from the start. I was given a work programme which detailed everything.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I went to lots of talks by the MPC and met the CFOs of a few top companies,.

  • Employment prospects are good and I was invited to do to a gap year placement with them.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I made friends with all the summer interns and that was one of the highlights. Everyone was really friendly, most of us started at the same time and we helped each other settle in by eating lunch everyday with each other and going out after work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously the city of london is expensive but if you make the most of restaurant offers and happy hours then its not too bad.

  • Didnt really go out at night but I would imagine it would be lively.
