    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Four Weeks is not really long enough however an insight was well worth it

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I went on staff nights out, went for drinks several times, I knew some people there already so it was easier. Everyone appreciated I had no prior experience and I soon settled in.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I didn't once feel like I couldn't ask for help, granted there was the odd jobsworth that presumed I should immediately know what I was talking about, but there are those people everywhere! The Lead director talked to me reuglarly, emails. conversations and phone calls to check how I was doing, the directors' in the department I was in sat me down and pracitcally gave me one-to-one tution in their own time to teach me what was going on.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was there four weeks but off the back of my placement at JLL I recieved several job opportunities and now work for a construction company and I am finishing my degree part-time. JLL staff also said that I am welcome anytime to ask for help and even that once my degree is done there may be a job waiting for me if I choose to return.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • As I was brought in last minute and all of a sudden, there was obviously less structure to what I would be doing but I think I did something with 75% of the department I was in and I was soon set my own tasks etc.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It got a bit boring sometimes when there wasn'tr much work for me. I gathered that in the fourth quarter everyone was busy pushing their work hard but I could always have a chat or a laugh and the relaxed atmoshpere of when i could take a break, tea, cofee and chances to get out of the office made it easy.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • (same as before, conversations etc)

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • One guy I met there was only a little older than me, he loves it and we got on. He told me all about it, the nitty gritty etc. I hope im like him in a few years.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • JLL is a place that respects its staff. when the staff are respected, they actually want to work for the company. The relaxed atmoshpere means many of the staff do work in their own time, but they always get it done, because they want to. Little things like free tea and coffee may seem pointless, but when you have been in an office that breeds a culture of selfishness with signs such as "do not touch my milk" you realise what a nice place it is to work in. They always have their clients in mind, they are generally all friends and they chill out on a friday.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The lead director and I had a conversation and he reccomended the next path I take, to take my interview at a small company for project management experience (which is my degree). The content showed am insight into how contractor should appeal to consultants. I have seen what a project is like on both sides of the field. I now work at that place and do work for JLL. Not the worst content is it?

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • £230 a week .. if that wasn't incentive to get a job when I am just a student I don't know what is

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • see ealier

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • went out etc as I said before. I even met my current employer on site once, which im fairly sure helped me get the job.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • They play football and the website is always coming up with schemes etc

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I have a job because of four weeks there. I now do part-time uni, full-time work and earn 5 times per week than what I did in my part-time job. Granted, I was lucky, but that's what it takes, you still have to put the effort in and I cant go out in the week anymore, but I had already done two full-time uni years.
