  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I greatly enjoyed my whole experience, especially the opportunity to work with and help clients.

    • I got on well with my team who gave me responsibility early on.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • My Line Manager and the Private Banker who I shadowed were both extremely helpful and supportive at all times and invested a lot of time in me which was greatly appreciated.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Tasks and projects took up most of my time, and when I completed these I used the company online learning tools to learn more about the products which I found interesting and useful.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I was responsible for creating emails and documents that were sent to clients. I also completed a number of other ad-hoc projects. We were given the opportunity to pitch to a genuine prospect. Given the client facing nature of the work, the level of responsibility was sometimes limited.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I developed many skills during my internship, but my confidence presenting and arranging/participating in business meetings has increased the most significantly. Improving my time management and prioritisation skills has also helped me since returning to university.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • I got on well with my team but the office was often quiet as Bankers were out of the office meeting clients.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • The programme was amazingly organised. Including initial training, a great intern challenge, continued support, set objectives and targets, arranged meetings with senior employees and other networking activities.

    • Everyone was always willing to take their time to give advice and support. It was clear a lot of time and effort had gone into the programme.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Yes there were always lunches/dinners/after work drinks organised.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • London is expensive but the salary is generous.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • After work drinks were very popular but the nightlife in Canary Wharf doesn't continue past about 10pm but it is easy to get to the rest of the city.

    • There are opportunities to join sports clubs and other societies within the company.
