Role Description

Work on delieverence of a project within the hair colour dept. Day-to-day work envolved innovative lab work, presentations, leadership and discussions. The work I did was taken seriously and I was treated with the respect of anyone else in the company, I was able to influenece the direction of my project work and everyday brought different but rewarding chanlenges.

I was really lucky with my manager who was excellent - he would put my name forwards to the big bosses and worked for me to get recognision. Other managers were also good.

You can work with flexi-hours so that you can work the hours you want. You don't have to "clock-in" and "clock-out". Its more about what you deliever.

I was the formulator working on a big project worth a lot of money so the responsibility of the work was large but not oppressive. I was also able to lead my work in meetings so wasn't just stuck in the lab.

Only downside is that it's not academic research so its not as chemistry intense. However in terms of gaining skills for work outside of academia, this was perfect as they actively try to improve you as a rounded individual.

Office atmosphere was good and everyone was friendly but I know that other departments on site are less formal.

Atmosphere was good and plenty of interested stories but a fair few lived locally and went home most weekends.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

I come from the north were its insulting to pay over £2.50 for a pint. Rent is expensive (I paid £340pppm).
