  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my four week summer internship with Savills in London. The whole experience from start to finish was extremely invaluable, working alongside talented individuals within Savills on leading residential development schemes in London.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The Land Residential Development team were constantly involving me in their day to day responsibilities, whether this was pricing a residential scheme or producing an in-depth residential report. Therefore, I was constantly motivated to succeed as well as the added incentive of going for a drink with the team after a long hard day in the office.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Throughout the four weeks I never felt that I couldn't ask for assistance with a piece of work, as my team was very hand-on which allowed me to develop key analytical skills and gain a perspective on the residential market in London.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My role was within the Land Residential Development team where as my course in BSc (Hons) Real Estate predominantly covers Commercial Property. However, it was important to gain an understanding for residential property which I may pursue as a future career.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured throughout the four-weeks, with a healthy balance of networking opportunities, site visits and tours across the city.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere within Savills is fast-paced and high-morale which is the sort of the environment I am most compatible with. Whether it was banter in the office or a few drinks after I work, I was constantly in a good spirit.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Savills invested in me through the vast insight I was given into Residential Development. I was given the flexibility to assist on a number of schemes with different members of the team.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The role was very similar to a graduate, as you were given a flavour to what your day to day responsibilities would be in the 5 monthly rotation graduate scheme.

  • Ultimately, the most important aspect of the four-week summer scheme was to gain an insight into Savills which was definitely provided.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to network and meet other employees within Savills, everyone is willing to offer advice and listen to any of your thoughts for a graduate career.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking / social event opportunities was ideal as it allowed you to network with some valuable contacts for the future and build a rapport with your team. In addition, the Savills Summer Party was a great networking event to meet like-minded peers who were starting their graduate schemes.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There is plenty of out-of-work activities to get involved in with Savills whether this is cricket, rugby or football. If you didn't fancy a sporting activity, you could more than likely meet Savills employees at All Bar One on Margaret Street.

  • I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend as you gain a fantastic experience of working with Savills in London.
