    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy my time there to an extent, although we didn't apply for specific roles because the company allocated them based on preferences.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Really enjoyed the team, they helped me fit in alot and were really friendly getting me involved in different things.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Brilliant support networks in place at the company, not just within the team I was in but through the mentor scheme and through the placements & grad team. Really appreciative of the help and support they gave throughout the time I was there.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Project management was a bit random with workload, sometimes you were waiting a while for things to materialise, other times the deadlines were a bit hectic. On the whole a good balance.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots of responsibility in managing the projects considering how new I was to the type of work, letting you hold the reigns on projects, make the contacts and organise meetings.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training they gave us was brilliant, all about personal development and awareness, and a real feedback central company. I particularly liked the personal brand workshop and MBTI testing.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People are busy most of the time but it was fun most of the time.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, Zurich have a lot of experience with interns being in the company (job roles, support networks etc.). Clearly structured from the outset with key dates.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Personal brand workshop (off site), MBTI testing and personality workshop, stakeholder management workshop, project management workshop. Lots on offer.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As much as I liked the company and the people there my interests have changed since the internship to different industries. Really good grad schemes in place for those interested in a career though.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Unfortunately there wasn't a huge social scene among the fellow placement students I was with, but with colleagues we did a few things like going out for lunch and the Christmas party.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very cheap in Swindon where we were staying, but I would think carefully about where you live as Swindon isn't an amazing place to be.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again, I'm sure Swindon nightlife appeals to some people, just not myself.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were lots of charity events going on, lots of sport events and clubs aswell.

    4/5
