    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I reall enjoyed my time with the bank. I was obviously nervous to start with but I settled in really quickly. The work wasn't too dull and both colleguaes and other interns were very sociable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of my collegaues were really eager to help when I first arrived and give me an overview of their roles and responsibilities. Even though they were often busy, they always took time to give me advice and assisstance when I needed it. By the time I left, I had made some strong bonds.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager sat just on the next set of desks so she was near enough so I could ask her questions. We had weekly meetings to discuss my project but I saw her informally about it at least once a day. Her manager sat near to me as well and he also took an active role in my development.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had something to do but I felt like I could have been given more to do at times.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the start I was given resposnsibilty. On my third day, I was helping to run breakout sessions for colleagues to capture feedback on the project I was working on! My recommendations were taken seriously and I was encouraged to progress them and find out information relating to cost, timescales and suppliers.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience was very useful! I have learned what it is like to be in an office environment and how to confidently interarct with so many different people every day.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • To begin with, it was a bit more awkward but colleagues made the efoort to talk to me and we really got on by the end of the 10 weeks. People were always bringing in cakes too which was great!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Generally, it was organised well but sometimes I think that my manager wasn't given enough guidance/ information as I occasionally knew more than her about the internship! However, she had organised evrything for me before I arrived so it generally ran smoothly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was always invited to meetings or presentations that may have interested me even if they were not directly related to what i was working on. Everyone gave feedback on my presentation so i was able to adjust it before doing it for a second time.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I got a referral and I was going to accpet without a doubt but they changed the structure of the scheme while we were on it and didn't really keep us informed about this which put me off somewhat. What I applied for wasn't necessarily what I ended up being referred onto.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were about 10 other interns in my office who I rarely saw when working but we regularly ad lunch together and went out after work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The commute was pretty expensive for me but I lived in my student house so the price was pretty reasonable.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were bars around the station so I could easily get the last train home if I had a late night

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • My team walked the 3 peaks for charity. The interns were encouraged to take part in the Charity Challenge to riase money for Alzheimers which we did!
