- Role Description
Putting up posters, refilling flyer holders, designing posters, flyers, menus etc
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
Whilst the design work was useful, there were a great many tasks that did not improve my level of experience.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I felt excluded from the cliquey day staff, sent on long and pointless errands and was used as a scapegoat for the inadequacies and inexperience of others.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management?
-
I was often told that the work I had done was not what they were after, and yet received little instruction about how to improve it.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Varied from day to day.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
I was held responsible for missed deadlines
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I completed enough design to pad out my portfolio but learnt no new skills.
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Though there were friendly staff there, there was a definite feeling that I did not belong.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
As previously mentioned, there didn't appear to be a great deal of organisation. Briefs were set unreasonably close to the deadline, usually because it had only just occurred to the staff to set them.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company invest in you?
-
I learnt nothing new whilst on the internship.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- There were no perks with this placement
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
None of the paid staff had contracts, and seemed to be in constant fear of being fired.
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
The other interns were in the same boat and as such were friendly and commiserative.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Camden isn't cheap, but where in London is?
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
There are plenty of great clubs and pubs in Camden
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
