The Role
- Role Description
Over the course of the 12 months a series of tasks and projects will be delegated to you. However, tasks and projects will be related and given based on your skills and what you would like to learn/develop at the company. I chose the path of graphic design within the business and was therefore given tasks to design bottle labels, websites, icons, logos and many web graphics etc.
Knowledge in HTML, CSS, jOuery and javascvript, plus industrial applications and programs including, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office would be very useful for this placement.
Ideas and opinions are widely encouraged and everyone in the company has their say on development; whether it is designing the new logo, a change for some packaging or making the website more user friendly, all is welcome.

-
You'll start to be attached to them as everyone works as a team as it's impossible to finish a job without another's input.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
As this is a small company, speaking to the manager isn't daunting. They are all friendly and helpful people and will give you advice when you need it. Meetings are set from time to time to check on your workload and progress.

-
Lots of jobs were stacked up, therefore being organised and creating a list by importance of jobs was necessary to finish of set tasks.

Most of the creativity was left down to me. However, input from the higher-ups or other colleagues was available at any time when needed therefore I didn't feel alone when help was needed.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I feel many of the skills I brought aboard was developed and lots of Photoshop techniques was learnt. Many books and online references to help with the job and tasks at hand was offered.

Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Work produced recieved praise from friends and family.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Since the business is in a remote-ish area. Shops were approx. 10 mins away so if food was needed it wasn't hard to get.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Not exactly grand like London but a small rural town with a lovely countryside scenery. Warm and friendly pubs and restaurants, a relaxing environment to enjoy an evening.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
There were opportunities to go out ot London for events or attending other out-of-office activities. Treats are offered frequently in the office.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
A lovely group of people who are young and friendly. Easy to work with and many opportunities for you to show your skills within the business. You'll also learn how e-commerce works and how the whole business is operated.
